Show choir

Since this is my last bog post for now, I'm going to talk about something different. My parents and sister went down to Orlando Florida to a national show choir competition. Our show choir has won three out of four competitions. Sadly they didn't take me with but I get to stay with my grandparents and the middle school music teacher.

Today after school, when the music teacher picked me up from school (he's a little bit of a prankster) he had me call my mom and say, "Mom, Mr. Remily isn't here." She actually believed me. Then I told her I was just kidding and she called us "brats".

Wednesday we went to "to save a life" with our youth group. Then Thursday we had a middle school show choir performance for the community. I'm not in the singer/dancers but I play the drums. Then when we were done with that we stopped over at Mr. Remily's house and got a bunch of movies. We get to watch them on my 62" plasma screen TV with surround sound. Then on Saturday we're going to Sloan Iowa for a middle school show choir competitions. We decided to take X-men one and two to watch on the bus. Then on Sunday my parents and sister will come home at around eleven o'clock.

Basketball

This story is a fictional story about basketball. This man wakes up from having a horrible dream about what happened that made him a legend. It goes on to tell you that the man was released from his NBA team and practically had nowhere to turn because his wife had left him when he told her. But he kept working and ended up doing something that would have never happened. Again this is a fictional story.

How.....

I woke with a jolt. A bead of sweat trickled down my face. I was dreaming about the day. The day that made my life happen. I had been cut from my team in the NBA. When I told my wife…. she left me. Ha, her loss. But that made me do 110% on everything I ever did or will do. It made me what I am today. It made me do what I did for my team. It got me all the trophies lined out on the shelf above my fireplace. It made me forgive and forget. It also made me give thanks to the people who love me for ME not for what I did. That day… that day was horrid. It made me look life in the eye and wonder what I could do with it. When she finally divorced me and stripped me of everything I owned, even my farmhouse. All she left me was the rim off the hoop. I worked every day and every night. I moved my way from the worst player in the NBA to the best player in history. I laid back down and forgot about my long lost child and divorced wife. One more thing I forgot to tell you, my name. Michael Jordan

Percussion/drums

One last thing about me is that I play the drums as a hobby. I own my own trap set and I just go down and play sometimes. Something interesting about my drumming is that I collect drumsticks. The last time I counted I had fourteen pairs of drumsticks. I have drumsticks from Ochoa Rios Jamaica, the Grand Caymans, Disney World, San Diego California, Phoenix Arizona, Minneapolis Minnesota, and some from a Blue Man Group concert.

I just got a new crash cymbal for Christmas to go with my trap set. It’s an A series which is the best series out right now. I also got a cymbal clock made out of my old high hat top. It had drumsticks as the hour markers. Then the words from the company that made it had come off so they put the name on it. Here are some of my drums: I have Zildjian high hat, three Evan’s toms, a crash/ride cymbal, and an A series Zildjian crash cymbal. When I go down to play or practice on my drums I like to take my IPod down with me to play songs off of but, I also play my band music or the music that my drum teacher gives me. Finally drumming is one of my favorite things to do in my free time.

Tennis

A couple of posts ago I also talked about tennis so I would like to expand a little more. In the winter it’s harder to play more because we only have one indoor tennis court and it gets really cold here. Our tennis team is really good we just have tough competition from the bigger towns around us so we haven’t won a state championship in tennis. There’s even a billboard when you come into town that shows all the state championships by our teams like in basketball and football etc. but tennis isn’t even on the billboard. So with the kids that are coming up to varsity like in my grade and the grade below me, I really think that we might have a chance.

I was in a small tournament a couple of weeks ago and it was a doubles tournament. My partner and I came out with a first win and since there were only three teams in the tournament (including us) we were in the championship. We started the game with a BANG. The first point we had the ball speeding across the tennis court. Both teams got to the net and had sort of a volley off. The very last point of the match was the funniest and the most intense out of the whole match. We started a normal point and then they started hitting the ball deep on me and I kept on going back and back and back until I accidentally sat on one of my coaches and I still swung and got the ball in all while sitting on one of my coaches. So I got back up to the baseline and they hit it deep again so I backed up and kept on backing up until I almost sat on someone again but I still got the ball in. We ended up losing the match but it was a evenly matched game from the start.

Basketball

Last post I talked about Basketball in my first paragraph and I’d like to talk about it a little bit more. My favorite team (the Phoenix Suns) beat the Dallas Mavericks on January 28, 2010. They’re record on TNT was 0-18 and they beat the 3rd seed in the western conference on TNT. The Suns had also lost 7 of their last 9 games. But the Suns bench came out to play last night. Louis Amundson, Jared Dudley, Channing Frye, Grant Hill, and Steve Nash took over the fourth quarter as they outscored the Mavs with a final score of 112 to 106. But not only did the offense outscore the Mavs but they held them to only 16 fourth quarter points. Amar’e Stoudemire had a game-high of 22 points. Jason Richardson had 17 points and Lois Amundson had 12 points and two blocks.

When I first got into playing and watching basketball my favorite player was Kobe Bryant. Hard to believe now that I like Steve Nash and one of the rivals of the Lakers. But Steve has had a better season then when he won his two MVP’s in a row. Even though he’s a good player not many people realize how good of a player he is. Most people only think that he pass well but he can also score. This year he has an average of 18.3 points per game. And has .938% of FT shooting. He also has amazing passing like I said earlier. He just became 8th all time assist leaders with an average 11.1 assists per game. Finally I have really gotten into playing and watching basketball.

Me

Some things that you might want to know about me. I play sports such as basketball, and tennis. My favorite basketball player is Steve Nash. He plays for the Phoenix Suns. My favorite college basketball team is between the Duke Blue Devils and the Arizona State Sun Devils. I really picked up on playing basketball and watching basketball because I got an Xbox for Christmas one year and I started playing NBA Live 05 and I got into basketball. But when that happened I really got into it with following certain players and certain teams. But not only did it get me involved with just basketball it got me involved in other sports too.

I also like to play tennis. One thing about our tennis team is that we have a good team but the towns around us are also good so we have never ever won a state championship in tennis. I’m not quite sure how old I was when I started to play but I started to take community lessons and I never like to play tennis. I always hated going to my lesson but now I love to play tennis. Over the summer I went to a tennis camp in St. Peter Minnesota and it was so fun. When you would look at the schedule it would look like non-stop tennis for about four days but you had a free time were you could go swimming you could hang out in the dorms or you could go and do tennis stations. At the beginning of each day they would announce a camper of the day and an instructor of the day. I ended up winning the camper of the day on the last day of camp. One thing that was interesting about the camp was that we had a dance, a talent show, and we also sang songs at the end of each day.

The last thing about me is that I play the drums. Some people would think that’s just banging. But it’s not. Because if you are a true drummer you can play the bells/xylophone and other percussion instruments. But I really like to play the trap set and the weird percussion instruments. But the reason I like to play the drums is because it helps to relieve stress. Because when you’re stressed out you can just go down and play a couple songs and it starts to relax you pumps adrenaline through your veins. It also helps to build hand eye coordination. Lastly I like to play the drums because I just have a natural rhythm.

First Semester Portfolio-Piece I'd like to revise

The genre is a poem. It’s about calling my basement my Man Cave and where I go and my dad go a lot to play video games and watch sports and sometimes our family comes to watch recorded shows. The Man Cave (basement) is also where my drum set is so it can get pretty loud sometimes. The reason I created this poem is because I had to do a place poem and I didn’t know what to write about and I was in my basement and I was thinking and I decided that I should do my basement and call it a Man Cave because I kind of got my idea for Man Cave off of George Lopez but he called it something different. I think that I would change it by putting some similes in it and maybe trying to make it rhyme.

First Semester portfolio-my favorite piece

The genre is a short story. It’s about how a NFL quarter back is in the super bowl and is trying to throw the game winning pass and he has to evade a couple of defenders and he ends up getting injured. I think it’s my favorite because it has a lot of imagery and it’s really realistic and it just shows an image in your head when you read it. How I thought of it was I was sitting in my room trying to think of something to right and my sister was trying to help me and she was just naming off random ideas and one came up that was football so I wrote about it.

Goodbye career

“Down”, I yelled as I scanned the defense for any read I could get on what they had called. I bent over to talk to the center with pressure building on both sides of the ball. “Set”, I yelled as I bent over to make it look like I was whispering to the center again, I quickly yelled, “Hut.” I snatched the ball from the center’s hand and scrambled to find the laces. I ran back into the pocket and slipped as the rain pelted my helmet. Sweat trickled down my face as I hit the dirt and scrambled to get back to my feet. But the offensive line couldn’t hold much longer. I stared at the field to find an open receiver but they were all covered. Out of the corner of my eye on my blind side I saw Dwight Freeney rushing toward me. He jumped as I ducked. He went flying over the top of me and hit Robert Mathis coming after me too. I finally found a receiver in the corner of the end zone…… CRACK. I was hit in two places. My upper body and my legs. One player came from the back and one from the front. I lofted the football up in the air toward the receiver. The receiver dived for the ball, planted one foot and dragged the second, with a one handed catch. The crowd was in an uproar until they looked to me to start celebrating. One man saw me and the news spread like wildfire. All I was doing was lying on the turf. Not moving at all. The training staff rushed onto the field as the players from both teams took off their helmets and kneeled some talking to coaches or players and some talking to family members but most on my team were in prayer with all three coaches, players, and family members. There was a deathly silence throughout the stadium. They soon put me on a stretcher and gave me my super bowl ring. I couldn’t move my hands or anything else for that matter. But my brother gave “thumbs up” to the crowd and the crowd and both teams gave me a standing ovation. Luckily I had just lost movement for a short period of time I regained full movement throughout my body. But I could never play in the NFL again.

First Semester Reflection

I grew as a language art student with my stories and making them better with AWUBIS and imagery with and other smiley face tricks. More things have really clicked this year with vocabulary because I used to have trouble with subjects and verbs but now I get it and its come really easy this year.

I learned that that I was really lazy and tried to get out of studying for tests and found out it hurt my grade and that made me really mad. But I also became really fond of working in art (which I never liked) because my imagination really burst out and I could think of things. But I just need to stop being lazy and not be afraid about new experiences. Also, one more thing is that I need to remember more things instead of forgetting them and then have my awesome mom have to bring them into me.

Finally, if I just don't get lazy and study for my tests I won't have as much trouble this semester. Next, if I try and keep my mind open to new experiences I might be able to do good in the classes that I don’t think I will do good in. Also, I should be more prepared the night before like, double checking my bag and other items I need for school or after school so by getting all my stuff together all I have to do in the morning is to grab it and come to school.
